Careers – A day in the life of …

REWARDS:  When I joined SPX Filtran in 2006, the Beijing location had just moved into a new plant which focuses on Japanese OE customers.  Everything is new to us: customers, products, quality system requirements... even most team members are new -- but everybody works together to meet and exceed customer expectations.  I really like the culture of solidarity and passion.

CHALLENGES:  Actually, my team gives me confidence to face every challenge positively.  Sometimes, to meet a customer's test or SOP schedule, suppliers need to build toolings and produce parts in very short time. There is no extra time for mistakes.  Our sourcing engineer visits suppliers frequently, calling them several times every day. As a result, we have very few new project delays due to supply chain reasons.

IMPACT:  In 2006, main raw materials such as steel and crude oil stay at or near historic high levels.  We faced the pressure of significant cost increases, but with the hard work of the sourcing team, we kept the price level of outsourcing items with slight savings.

REWARDS:  The most rewarding aspect of my employment at SPX Filtran is working and interacting with my fellow employees from diverse cultural backgrounds.

CHALLENGES:  One of the positive challenges in my experience at SPX Filtran is being actively involved in all of the new product launches.

IMPACT:  I have been able to make an impact in my role at SPX Filtran by using and implementing best practices learned from my previous experience as a buyer.

REWARDS:  Filtran has a huge focus on technology, and our customers know this and expect us to deliver the best solutions for their filtration requirements. This drives me to learn and stay on top of transmission filtration technology.

CHALLENGES:  The unprecedented amount of new program launches is very exciting and challenging. I enjoy the fast paced program launch activities working with the cross functional team here at Filtran.

IMPACT:  I have been able to complete several open issues with some of our major customers and work on new programs and technologies. I have been able to move the DoubleDuty launch forward with several models ready for production.

REWARDS:  Working with the SPX Filtran family has been the most fulfilling and rewarding in my job. Our people are our company.

CHALLENGES:  SPX Filtran is a technology driven company and with that comes many challenges and demands that keep us on our toes.

IMPACT:  Being part of the development team, my product testing and validation support to both the design and manufacturing teams allow all of us to have better understanding of our product and equip us to lead the market.

REWARDS:  Working for an internationally active company as IBS Filtran - and being a part of the SPX Filtran Group - means to open up a wide range of possibilities to advance one's abilities as you get to know different mentalities and styles of working colleagues all over the world.

CHALLENGES:  The biggest challenge in my role is to build up good and trusting relationships with suppliers in order to bring out the best for the company.

IMPACT:  My ability to communicate openly with business partners helps me to make greater impact every day.
